Lil Baby’s Brand Wham X Zumiez Drop
A few weeks ago I got hit up by my boy Josh Walker, founder of Indestreets and head of marketing at The Holding Co. Josh is a fellow OG skateboarder who grew up cutting his teeth in the early 2000’s around the Long Beach, CA area. The Holding Co, operates super star rapper’s Lil Baby’s cannabis brand, Wham. Josh has been running it up for them for awhile dropping and executing ideas like their “Glockbusters”, which comes in a VHS sized packaging designed with the classic blue and yellow Blockbusters logo.
Josh hit me up letting me know Zumiez was picking up the Wham merch and they were in crunch time needing some assets for Zumiez to share on social. Two skaters figuring it out with limited time and resources, I was game. Josh found the location and booked the models through Nautz Modeling Agency and we were ready to cook.
We pulled up to a corner house in Paramount that ran along an alley, had a chain linked fence and a classic porch, perfect. Josh unloaded the classic GT bike as I pulled my gear out of the Outback. The models pulled up and we started shooting a mix of photo and video. I clamped the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 to the GT, Timmy threw the Jason mask on and took a few laps around the alley while I was firing the shutter at the other models. At the end of the shoot we walked away with a gang of raw stills and footage. I was anticipating the fun part, figuring out how to piece this puzzle together.
At the end of post production I delivered 50+ edited photos and a social reel to Josh. We were both hyped on being able to pull it off on a few days notice and limited resources. One of my favorite parts of shooting is figuring it out on the fly, being 100% present and utilizing whatever we have at our disposal. Sometimes it isn’t much, but I love making lemonade out of lemons. Whether it’s an over produced, big budget shoot or a special op’s project, I’m always down for the adventure.
